Paschim Medinipur (West Bengal) [India], March 11 : Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), MP, Dilip Ghosh slammed the Trinamool Congress (TMC) after the party revealed its candidates for all 42 Lok Sabha seats in West Bengal stating that TMC's senior leaders are corrupt and new people are not joining the party that necessitating the recruitment of candidates from outside the state for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
"TMC (Trinamool Congress) has selected candidates from those individuals who are available to them. Senior leaders of TMC are corrupt, and new people are not joining the party. They have to bring in candidates from Bihar, Gujarat, etc. This is the current situation of TMC," Dilip Ghosh said.
He said that TMC senior leaders are not ready to lead the party forward, alleging that there is internal conflict between old and new members
BJP took a swipe at outsider candidates of TMC after it fielded former cricketer Yousuf Pathan from Behrampore seat, who is from Gujarat's Vadodara. He was fielded against Congress state chief Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury, who has been a Member of Parliament from Behrampore, which has a Muslim majority population, since 1999.
Earlier on March 10, Trinamool Congress (TMC) announced 42 candidates for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
Ghosh further claimed that the people of West Bengal are not going to support Mamta Banerjee as the party has become the symbol of corruption and relies on criminals like Sheikh Shahjahan.
"Their party symbol has now become the symbol of corruption. Regardless of the candidate, the people of Bengal will not support them at any cost. TMC has never placed trust in educated Bengalis but has relied on individuals with criminal backgrounds, such as Sheikh Shahjahan. Mamata Banerjee always worked against the interests of Bengalis, which is why they are finding it difficult to find suitable candidates locally, and they have to bring them in from other states," Dilip Ghosh said.
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee's nephew, Abhishek Banerjee, announced the TMC candidates on Sunday at a show of strength in the heart of Kolkata.
As expected, Abhishek Banerjee is on the TMC ticket from Diamond Harbour. The announcement of candidates also put rest all lingering hopes of a seat-sharing pact with the Congress in the state.
