New Delhi [India], December 22 : Bharatiya Janata Party on Sunday criticised Delhi Chief Minister Atishi for only visiting Ragpuri Pahari and other areas after Lieutenant Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena drew attention to the lack of facilities for the people.
Earlier, Delhi LG Saxena had posted on his official X account about the situation of the people in areas such as Burari, Kiradi, Kalandar Colony, Sangam Vihar etc.
Atishi visited the Rangpuri Pahari area to interact with the residents there and talk about the work which started on New Rohtak Road.
Posting a video and showing the situation of the people, LG Saxena claimed, "The stinking water accumulated on the streets and roads is not from rain but from overflowing sewers. It was extremely disappointing and disturbing to see the helplessness and miserable lives of lakhs of people in the capital again yesterday."
"For the last two years, the Hon'ble Lieutenant Governor of Delhi has been trying to wake up the Delhi government but today when the exam time came, the Chief Minister of Delhi Ms. Atishi reached Rangpuri Hill to pretend innocence," read a statement by the Delhi BJP.
Criticising the CM, BJP spokesperson Praveen Shankar Kapoor said, "Atishi said that if anyone can fix the problem of Delhi, then it is only Aam Aadmi Party, then why did not Aam Aadmi Party MLAs or ministers who have been enjoying power for the last 10 years not even have enough time to find places where people are struggling for basic facilities."
The BJP spokesperson also asked whether the CM will also visit East Delhi, claiming that people are forced to "lead a hellish life."
"While Delhi is in bad shape all around, we are waiting for when will Lal Bahadur Hospital in East Delhi after Rangpuri in South Delhi, where sewer water is filled all around and patients and local citizens are disturbed," read a statement by the party.
While CM Atishi visited the Ragpuri Pahari, she thanked the Delhi LG for making her aware of the problems in certain areas of the national capital.
"Firstly I want to thank the LG, that he made us aware of the problems. I would like to tell the LG that whatever problem he sees in Delhi, he tells me. Delhi government and AAP party government will bring a solution to every problem of the people, whether it is a small problem or even the biggest of the problem," the CM told ANI.
Talking about another instance, the CM mentioned how the government started working on New Rohtak Road on a "war footing" after the issue was raised by LG Saxena.
