New Delhi [India], May 6 : All India Congress Committee media department chairman Pawan Khera on Monday asked the Bharatiya Janata Party to furnish the complete record of the minutes of "12 meetings between the BJP and Communist Party of China officials."
The Congress party demanded that the BJP should break its silence on its "close links" with China.
"Today, four years after the clash with China in Ladakh and four years since the Prime Minister gave China a clean chit, the Congress Party demands that the BJP break its silence on its close links with China," Khera said in a statement.
"There have been at least 12 meetings since 2008 where Bharatiya Janata Party politicians have met with Communist Party of China officials, most of them in China itself," he added.
Demanding the minutes of the meetings, the AICC Media Chairman asked the reason behind such "frequent interactions" between the two parties, and what was the reason behind their meeting shortly after the Doklam clash in 2017.
"What happened at each of these meetings? Why have these two parties met so frequently? When BJP cadre went to the Communist Party 'School', what were they taught? Why did BJP-RSS leaders meet with the CCP shortly after the June 2017 border clashes at Doklam?" Khera asked.
Sharing details of all the thirteen meetings between the two parties, Khera claimed that in October 2008, a 15-member Chinese Communist Party delegation visited the BJP Central Office. Rajnath Singh then said that the BJP "has always favoured fostering positive ties with China," he added.
"A BJP-RSS team took a 5-day trip to Beijing and Shanghai to meet with the Communist Party of China, including the CCP Politburo in January 2009," the Congress leader said. In January 2011, then-BJP President Nitin Gadkari went to China and met with Communist Party leaders on a "goodwill visit," he added.
"In November 2014, a 13-member BJP team visited China to learn from the CCP 'Party School. Bhagat Singh Koshyari, then a BJP MP, met with the Vice-Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference," he said.
In February 2015, a Communist Party of China Central Committee Minister met with Amit Shah at BJP headquarters. Following this, in October 2015, Vinay Sahasrabuddhe, Vice President of the BJP, met with Chen Fengxiang, vice-minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee in China. BJP General Secretary Ram Madhav met Guo Yezhou of the CCP in Fuzhou, China in June 2017.
In May 2018, BJP leader Anirban Ganguly met with Guo Yezhou of the CCP in Shenzhen, China, Khera said adding that BJP General Secretary Ram Madhav again met with a CCP minister in Beijing, China in August 2018.
In September 2018, CCP Politburo Member Huang Kunming met with BJP leader and then-Jharkhand CM Raghubar Das, allegedly to "develop new types of political party relations". In August 2019, a BJP delegation led by BJP General Secretary Arun Singh visited China. A BJP cadre study group held talks with Guo Yezhou, Vice-minister of the International Department of the CCP Central Committee.
BJP President JP Nadda met with the Chinese Ambassador in September 2019, Khera said.
