Dec 24, 2024
Hyderabad (Telangana) [India], December 24 : Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Raghunandan Rao on Tuesday urged Telangana police not to take "revenge" against cine actor Allu Arjun over the December 4 premiere of his movie 'Pushpa 2' at Sandhya Theatre in Hyderabad in which one woman lost her life.
"It is a small case. It is like any other small case in the state. What was the role of the police and the actor in that stampede? They should see whose failure it was the film theatre authorities or the police," Raghunandan Rao told ANI.
"My request to the police is that they should not take stringent action. Police should not take revenge against any individual because the court has already given 30 days of bail," the BJP leader said.
The tragic event occurred on December 4 when Allu Arjun attended the premiere of 'Pushpa 2: The Rule.'
A massive crowd gathered to see him, and the situation escalated when he waved to fans from the sunroof of his car. A woman named Revathi was killed and her child, Sri Tej, sustained injuries. Following the incident, Allu Arjun was arrested and later released on bail after furnishing a Rs 50,000 bond.
Meanwhile, today the actor was quizzed by police at Hyderabad's Chikkadpally police station in connection with the December 4 stampede case.
"The case is under investigation and your presence is quite essential before the undersigned officer to elicit answers from you about the incident and, if necessary for visiting the scene of the offence in order to ascertain the true facts," the notice given by the Telangana Police read.
A tight cordon of security has been thrown outside the actor's residence following recent protests demanding justice for the deceased woman.
The Pushpa actor's residence was attacked on December 22 by a group of people demanding justice for the death of a woman, identified as Revathi, in the Sandhya Theatre tragedy.
According to DCP West Zone, Hyderabad, the group suddenly arrived at Allu Arjun's residence, holding placards and shouting slogans.
