Six workers hospitalized after exposure to toxic fumes at Andhra camphor factory

Ananthpuram (Andhra Pradesh) [India], November 1 : Six workers at a factory in Andhra Pradesh's Ananthapuram district were hospitalized on Friday, allegedly after being exposed to toxic fumes from chemicals, police said.
The workers' condition was said to be stable.
According to Anantapur Rural Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Venkateshwarlu, the incident occurred at a camphor factory in Kothapalli, Garladinne Mandal.
"Some workers were welding a radiator when they were exposed to toxic odours from chemicals, causing them to fall unconscious. Four other workers who tried to assist were also affected and required treatment," the DSP said.
"The factory management immediately rushed all six workers to KIMS Savera Hospital in Anantapur, where they are now undergoing treatment on ventilators," he said.
A thorough investigation into the incident will be conducted, he added.
