Hyderabad (Telangana) [India], November 14 : The sixth Indian Photo Festival was inaugurated on Thursday at KBR Park in Hyderabad but organisers say they expect lesser footfall this year due to the ongoing COVID-19 situation.
The pandemic has also forced the organisers to move outdoors the photo exhibition
Aquin Mathews, Director for Indian Photo Festival, speaking to ANI said that the festival had being annually for the past six years but this year artist talks and discussions will be held online.
"It has been six years we have been successfully conducting Indian Photo Festival every year. The ongoing pandemic situation has affected everyone and their lives, and so does we. Every year, we call in international photographers as guests and conduct live events with them. But this year due to the COVID pandemic, we were not able to conduct any live artist talks or discussions.
"But this year, we are trying to conduct seminars and discussions through webinars," he said.
Mathews said that works by a total of 750 photographers have been displayed in print as well as in digital forms.
"We have more than 5,000 people registered and the numbers increase day by day as this is a month-long event. In this photo exhibition, a total of 750 photographers' works have been displayed in print as well as in digital forms. And here in KBR Park, we have almost 300 photographers work in display," he said.
"Talking about work, we have got a lot of work with a different perspective and a different narrative with different kinds of photographs. But in terms of footfall, we have already anticipated that this year, it's going to be less than what we have received in the previous years," he added.
Bhaskar Reddy, a photographer expressed happiness as he has not expected that the photo exhibition will take place due to COVID-19.
"I every year visit the photo exhibition and it is very pleasing to be to look at all the photographs. Every year, the Indian Photo Festival takes place in various art galleries. But this year, due to the Covid pandemic the display of photographs has been moved to outdoors in the walkway of KBR park. I'm really happy to come and see the photo festival. I didn't expect the festival to happen this year, but I'm glad it's happening," he said.
The Indian Photo Festival will continue till December 13.
