Small-scale industry is backbone of economy: CM Yogi

Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh) [India], October 11 : In a conversation with entrepreneurs on Wednesday, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath underscored the importance of small-scale industries and said that they are the backbone of the economy.
He highlighted that employment generation and economic self-reliance of families are possible only through small-scale industries.
He also assured the entrepreneurs that those who violate the law in the state will not be spared, regardless of who they are.
The Chief Minister participated in the Uttar Pradesh Entrepreneur Grand Convention organized by Laghu Udyog Bharti.
For the first time, more than 5,000 small entrepreneurs from across the state participated in the event in Agra.
During the event, he said, "This moment is priceless for me. Today, I have had the privilege of interacting with small entrepreneurs for the third time in three months."
CM Yogi welcomed entrepreneurs from all over the state at the grand convention of Laghu Udyog Bharti in Brajbhoomi on behalf of the State Government.
While speaking to the entrepreneurs, he mentioned that Laghu Udyog Bharti was also a partner of the government in the International Trade Show organized in Greater Noida between September 21 and September 25.
The Chief Minister mentioned the recently held International Carpet Expo in Bhadohi and shared that when he saw the local entrepreneurs there, he realized how they used to be neglected in the past. He said that India exports carpets worth Rs 17,000 crore annually. Out of this, carpets worth Rs 10,000 crore are exported from Bhadohi, Mirzapur, and Varanasi alone.
The Chief Minister emphasized that small businesses create more employment in less space while meeting all environmental standards at a lower cost, leading to greater economic self-reliance for families.
He said that Uttar Pradesh has a long history of being the foundation of small industries, with various industries in different regions.
"The Uttar Pradesh government, inspired by Prime Minister Modi, initiated the 'One District, One Product' (ODOP) plan in 2018 to revive small industries, and over the years, it has yielded significant results. Today, through the ODOP scheme, Uttar Pradesh has increased its exports 250 times in the past five years. We made a BIMARU state like Uttar Pradesh economically prosperous with the hard work of these entrepreneurs", he remarked.
CM Yogi said that in 2020, the MSME policy removed the need for a NOC for up to a thousand days, and all necessary facilities are now being offered to entrepreneurs. The mission is rapidly progressing, with the construction of flatted factories in Agra, Kanpur, and Varanasi, the CM pointed out.
Yogi emphasized that the state government has a zero-tolerance policy towards crime.
"We will not compromise security, regardless of who is involved. Anyone engaging in criminal activities will face the consequences", he asserted.
"In the 2023 elections, for the first time, law and order became a significant electoral issue, and the public stood with the state government", Yogi added.
The Chief Minister further advised entrepreneurs that if they want to start or have already established a business and form partnerships with local institutions, the children there can provide them with manpower effortlessly.
"During their training, if you register these young individuals, the government will provide them with half of their honorarium. This will result in having a team of experienced individuals, and investing in the training of young people will yield positive results", he added further.
During this, State President of Laghu Udyog Bharti Madhusudan Dadu stated that more than 1,500 small entrepreneurs from 60 districts were participating in the grand convention. They will discuss the development, challenges, and future of their respective regions during the event.
The guidance for the industrial development of the state and how it can be expanded will be taken from the Chief Minister, he added.
State Secretary of Laghu Udyog Bharti, Manish Aggarwal said that in the first session of the Small Industries Conference, entrepreneurs from across the state provided information about their respective regions and formulated plans and objectives for the future.
In the second session, discussions were held with top officials of the state to address the issues related to the establishment and operation of small industries.
In the third session, the entrepreneurs met with Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.
