Ayodhya (Uttar Pradesh) [India], September 19: Samajwadi Party MP Awadhesh Prasad from Ayodhya on Thursday criticising BJP's focus on the "One Nation One Election" proposal claimed it to be a diversion from more pressing issues facing the country.
Prasad accused the BJP of using the proposal to shift attention from serious problems. He said, "There are many other burning issues in the country and this is a trick of the Bharatiya Janata Party to divert attention from them."
The MP also commented on Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath's role, stating that some BJP leaders have diminished his importance. Prasad added that although Adityanath is the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, he has been assigned to oversee only two by-elections in the Milkipur and Katehari assembly seats. He believes that the BJP's strategy reflects the difficulty of winning in Milkipur, which he claims is a challenging seat for the party. "There are 10 by-elections to be held in the state, but he has been given the responsibility of only two seats: Milkipur and Katehari assembly seats," Prasad said.
Prasad then went on to praise the Samajwadi Party's recent success, and said that the win in the Faizabad Lok Sabha seat is important for them . He also argued that winning the Milkipur seat would further demonstrate the BJP's decline. "The way Samajwadi Party won the Faizabad Lok Sabha seat with a huge number of votes, the Samajwadi Party India alliance has set a record in the whole country and the world. In this way, this Milkipur set Samajwadi By winning, the party will send a message to the whole country and the world that the existence of the Bharatiya Janata Party has ended here under the leadership of Honourable Yogi Ji and when the assembly elections will be held in 2027, the Bharatiya Janata Party will be seen completely finished,", the SP's Ayodhya MP said.
Prasad also highlighted certain national issues he believes are being ignored. He rebuked the BJP for failing to address unemployment and inflation. "Crores of youth of our country are sitting empty handed...This is a blot on the face of an independent country," he added.
Further, Prasad condemned the BJP's handling of the Agniveer scheme, which he claims undermines the future of young recruits. "Is a 4-year job a job? Where will our son go after 4 years?" he questioned.
Prasad also asserted that the BJP is evading critical issues and using the "One Nation One Election" proposal as a distraction. He said, "There are many such questions which are burning and related to the public, from which the Bharatiya Janata Party has turned its face and to hide its failure, they have come up with this one country, one election slogan. This is not possible in the country nor will it be possible.."
