Srijan 2023: SSVAP's Annual Exhibition of Student Photography and Filmmaking

will host its annual exhibition of student photography and filmmaking from May 17-20, 2023. The exhibition, titled "Srijan," will showcase the work of students from all three years of the school's visual arts and photography program. Distinguished members of the industry such as Pablo Bartholomew, Padmashree awarded Indian photojournalist, and Aseem Mishra, popular cinematographer shall be gracing the event. Founded as the celebration of the creativity and talent of SSVAP students, the exhibition is a great opportunity for the public to see the work of the next generation of visual artists and filmmakers.
The exhibition will open on May 17 with a screening of films made by SSVAP students. The films will be followed by a Q&A session with the filmmakers. On May 18, the exhibition will move to the Darpan Art Gallery, where it will remain open to the public through May 20.
The first day of the photo exhibition on May 18 will showcase the work of first-year and second-year students. First-year students will be presenting their work from group projects, while second-year students will be showcasing their individual work. On May 19 and 20, the exhibition will feature the best work from third-year students' final year projects, as well as their best photos from their three years at SSVAP.
On May 19, the exhibition will be officially opened by a guest photographer. The guest photographer will then walk through the exhibits with the SSVAP director to judge the best photographers from the graduating class. On May 20, the final day of the exhibition, a masterclass in photography will be held by the guest photographer. The masterclass will be followed by the announcement of the best photographers from the graduating class and a concluding speech by the SSVAP director.
SSVAP offers two recognized programs approved by the UGC. The first program is a three-year BA in Visual Arts & Photography that covers the fundamentals of filmmaking, visual arts, and photography. Students will learn the necessary skills and knowledge to create visually appealing and meaningful content. The curriculum includes digital photography, composition, lighting, colour theory, and digital imaging.
The second program is a one-year Diploma in Cinematography designed for those who want to specialize in cinematography. The program provides students with the technical skills and knowledge to produce compelling visual stories using cameras, lighting, and other tools. The curriculum includes camera techniques, lighting, colour grading, and post-production.
The admission process requires applicants to submit a portfolio of their original work and participate in an interview with the admissions committee. This process allows the institution to assess the applicant's skills, potential, and creative vision, and understand their personal goals.
To be considered for admission, applicants must have completed 10+2 with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate.
