Chennai (Tamil Nadu) [India], June 6 : Former Telangana Governor and BJP South Chennai candidate, Tamilisai Soundararajan, opened a public relations office here on Thursday to help the people.
In the recently concluded Lok Sabha elections, Soundararajan lost to DMK's T Sumathy by over 2.25 lakh votes.
"We not only got second place in South Chennai but vote share has also increased tremendously. I am thankful to all three lakh voters who have voted. I have opened an office for those three lakhs and also for nonvoters who did not vote for me. This is the office to help the people of South Chennai," Soundararajan told ANI.
She said, "I am associated with social service. I have also been in the political field for more than 25 years. I have been a governor, state president, political leader and national secretary. I have been working for the people of Tamil Nadu for over 25 years," she said.
Hitting out at the opposition, Soundararajan said, "I feel very sad that the DMK candidate who won said that she jumped to this constituency that indicates that she is not aware of the political situation neither in South Chennai nor in Tamil Nadu. I am visible every day so I want to tell you that I have contested to serve the people. During my campaign, I noted all the problems relating to drainage or dumping yard. We are with the people of South Chennai ... as well as Tamil Nadu."
As per the Election Commission of India (ECI) data, the DMK won 22 out of the 39 seats in Tamil Nadu while the BJP was left with nil.
The seat position of the DMK allies as per the ECI data are Congress (9), Communist Party of India (2), Communist Party of India - Marxist (2), Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (2), Marumalarchi Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam and Indian Union Muslim League one each.
