Visakhapatnam (Andhra Pradesh) [India], October 2 : Telugu Desam Party (TDP) senior leader and former minister, Bandaru Satyanarayana Murthy, was arrested by the police for allegedly making derogatory remarks against Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy and Minister RK Roja, officials said.
According to police, a case has been registered at Nagara Palem police station in Andhra's Guntur district.
Police registered a case for his remarks against CM Jagan and another for making comments on Minister RK Roja.
"A case has been registered under sections 41 (A), 41 (B), 153, 294, 504, and 505 of CrPC," police said.
Officials said that when the police came from Guntur to give notice to Bandaru and arrest him, Bandaru kept a watch on the door without taking notice for a long time.
The police had to break the door open and took Bandaru into custody. The TDP leader is being taken to Guntur.
Meanwhile, Bandaru has filed an anticipatory bail petition in the Andhra Pradesh High Court.
Bandaru made several personal comments against Roja. Roja’s husband Selvamani responded strongly to his comments saying that the remarks made by the leader were too personal. Selvamani further asked Bandari to show proof of his allegations and reveal all the details.
Meanwhile, TDP leader and former Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu's son Nara Lokesh condemned the arrest citing discrimination in the treatment of political leaders from the ruling party and the opposition.
"One law for the YSRCP government and another law for the opposition...," Lokesh said.
Last month, TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu was arrested in connection with an alleged skill development scam case.
