Telangana Minister Tummala Nageshwar reviews flood situation in Bhadradri Kothagudem district

Kothagudem (Telangana) [India], September 11 : Telangana Minister Tummala Nageshwar Rao conducted a review meeting on Godavari floods caused due to heavy rains in the Godavari basin in Bhadrachalam, Bhadradri Kothagudam district, said an official statement on Wednesday.
Telangana Agriculture Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao stated that due to the collective efforts of the district collector and officials, no harm was caused to tribal families, livestock, or any living being in the hill tracts of Bhadrachalam, despite Godavari floods reaching 55 feet. As a result, the situation remains under control.
Addressing a review meeting with officials from various departments at the sub-collector's office in Bhadrachalam on Wednesday, Rao said the district administration, led by the collector, took proactive measures to prevent damage from the floods, ensuring no loss of life or property.
Rao said Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has a special focus on flood prevention measures, including the construction of a new barrage at a cost of Rs40 crore. "The new barrage prevented flooding in Bhadrachalam town and surrounding villages," he said.
Rao instructed officials to Focus on education, healthcare, and agriculture for tribal families. Prepare plans for providing basic amenities to every tribal household. Conduct surveys and provide immediate aid to farmers who lost crops due to unexpected rains
He said unexpected rains caused widespread damage to crops in Manuguru and Khammam mandals. Officials conducted surveys, and Rs 10,000 per acre to affected farmers was provided. Over 2,000 houses were affected, with each household receiving Rs 16,500 as aid.
Rao emphasised the need for coordinated efforts to support tribal farmers and ensure their development. "Let's work together to protect people's assets and maintain the government's reputation," he concluded.
