New Delhi [India], October 9 : The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Wednesday criticised Delhi Lieutenant Governor (LG) Vinai Kumar Saxena, alleging that he forcibly removed the belongings of Chief Minister Atishi from 6, Flagstaff Road, the official residence of the Delhi Chief Minister.
"For the first time in the country's history, a Chief Minister's residence has been vacated. At the behest of the BJP, the LG forcibly removed CM Atishi's belongings from the residence. The LG is preparing to allot the CM's residence to a senior BJP leader," AAP claimed.
Delhi minister Saurabh Bharadwaj also criticised the LG in a post on X, claiming that LG Saxena told the media that the CM's belongings were removed because the keys to the residence had not been handed over to the PWD.

Additionally, AAP spokesperson Priyanka Kakkar remarked, "The Delhi LG must understand that the basic requirement to live in the CM's residence is to win the election in Delhi. The BJP has not won in Delhi for 27 years, and they are making every effort to undermine the elected AAP government, obstruct its work, and now they want to seize the CM's residence to give it to a BJP leader."
She further accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of having an "anti-women" mentality.
"Today, the BJP's anti-women mentality is on full display. They removed the belongings of a female Chief Minister during Navratri. The BJP has always resorted to lies. On October 4th, the former Chief Minister duly handed over the keys to the Section Officer of the PWD. The entire procedure was followed," Kakkar added.
A source from the LG's office stated that the Public Works Department (PWD) would allot the house according to rules and procedures.
"The owner of 6, Flagstaff Road, like all other Chief Ministers' residences, is managed by the PWD. The PWD takes possession of the house when it is vacated, prepares an inventory, and then allots it accordingly," the source said.
The source further claimed that CM Atishi herself removed the belongings.
"Former CM Arvind Kejriwal pretended to vacate the house but did not hand over possession to the PWD. What was he hiding? This house is not yet allotted to CM Atishi. Her allotted house is still at AB-17, Mathura Road. How did she get two houses allotted? CM Atishi herself placed her belongings in the house without proper allotment and then removed them."
The source added, "The Aam Aadmi Party need not worry. This bungalow will be immediately allotted to the Chief Minister after the proper inventory is prepared."
Earlier, visuals from 6, Flagstaff Road showed PWD officials at the Delhi Chief Minister's residence taking stock of the inventory.
