Oct 06, 2024
New Delhi [India], October 6 : Taking a dig at the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) over the Haryana assembly elections, CPI leader D Raja said that the people of Haryana are angry with the BJP and that they have betrayed farmers and wrestlers.
"I do not know what is the basis of their (BJP) confidence. According to me, the round reality is in tune with the exit polls. In Haryana, everyone knows that there is anger against BJP...The farmers are agitated and have been asking for a minimum support price (MSP) for their produce. This government has betrayed whatever it had promised to the farmers. They are angry with PM Modi and their policies..."
Hitting out at the BJP over the issue of wrestlers' protest, the CPI leader said, "In the same way, the government did not show any sensitivity over the issues raised by the wrestlers. They are the pride of the country and are bringing laurels to the country. They held protests over sexual harassment and the government did not listen to them. Everybody knows what happened to Vinesh Phogat. Women and young people are angry with the BJP's policies in Haryana. Taking everything into consideration, I think that people's verdict will go against the BJP.
Notably, the exit polls predicted a clean sweep for the Congress in Haryana, with some polls predicting the party will win more than 50 of the 90 seats in the assembly.
The TV-Today C voter projection said that the party may win 50-58 seats in the state, while it said that the BJP can win 20-28 seats. The other can win 10-16 seats.
