There're issues among Congress, Shiv Sena and NCP, this is how coalitions break: Maharashtra BJP chief

Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], September 29 : Days after a meeting between Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut and former Maharashtra chief minister Devendra Fadnavis on Saturday, state BJP chief Chandrakant Patil on Tuesday said there are issues among the three parties in the ruling coalition -- the Congress, Shiv Sena and NCP -- and this is how "coalitions break".
"There are differences among the three parties over issues like Farm Bills. This is how things turn sour and coalitions break. What will happen if one fine morning it happens (in Maharashtra)? A mid-term election? It is my analysis, it is not necessary that this will happen," Patil told ANI.
"Who wants mid-term elections? It's tough to fight the mid-term elections. It's wastage of time. There's an uncertainty that if an MLA will retain his/her seat. Everybody tries to maintain the coalition to avoid mid-term elections. If at all the coalition doesn't work then there's no other solution," he explained.
He added the Assembly elections took place just nine months ago. "If at all there's a mid-term election, things will go back to square one. There would same old questions over candidature, coalition and campaigning."
But, he said, he did not think that there will be any political change, whether or not there was a political discussion between Raut and Fadnavis. "When two politicians meet, there is a political discussion. They met for over two hours. But the meeting was inconclusive."
Earlier he had said that no political discussion had taken place and that Raut had asked Fadnavis for an interview in Shiv Sena mouthpiece 'Saamana' and that's why they met
"I said yesterday (Monday) that they'll sit together to see the questions, to rule out anything controversial," he said.
On chances of the BJP again joining hands with the Shiv Sena, Patil said his party cannot form a government with either of the three parties in the ruling coalition, but they are acting as an active Opposition.
"As the party's state chief, I'd like to clarify that there is no proposal to form a government either with the Shiv Sena, NCP or Congress. There were political discussions, but a discussion and proposal are two different things. We are playing the role of an active Opposition," Patil said.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray will meet the Shiv Sena MLAs from Konkan at 4 pm on Tuesday.
