New Delhi [India], July 28 : Delhi BJP President Virendraa Sachdeva said on Sunday that the three civil service aspirants who lost their lives at an IAS coaching institute were victims of the corruption of the Delhi government.
"Three such youths who were the future of the country, who were the light of their families, but became victims of the corruption of the useless government of Delhi. I stayed there for three hours...you cannot see that scene. In half an hour of rain, so much water is going into the basement...the drains were overflowing," Sachdeva said.
On Saturday, July 27, three UPSC aspirants lost their lives at an IAS coaching in West Delhi's Old Rajinder Nagar after the basement was flooded with water.
He further accused the mayor of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi, saying that the mayor had falsely claimed that Delhi had received record-breaking rainfall this season, despite the weather department saying that Delhi hadn't experienced such rains.
"Look at the shamelessness; yesterday the mayor was saying that record-breaking rains have occurred in Delhi. Just now, the message from the weather department came that Delhi has not even experienced the rains yet. In Delhi, the government is yours, the mayor is yours, and the MCD is yours but still, you are giving excuses. People of Rajinder Nagar were writing in their group to get the drains cleaned; the MLA is in the group, but the cleaning was not done because there were moneybags. For two years, your government has been in the MCD; the water board is also under you," he said.
Virendraa Sachdeva also stated that it was murder due to the negligence and greed for money of the corporations and that the BJP will protest against it in front of the APP office tomorrow.
"The whole AAP worries only about whether Kejriwal's weight has increased or decreased. After the Mukherjee Nagar incident, the corporation and the fire service were responsible for investigating the coaching institutes but nothing happened. Criminal cases should be filed against these departments and the minister should resign. This is murder due to your negligence and greed for money. Tomorrow, the BJP will protest at the AAP office," he said.
Earlier today, the police identified the victims of the coaching centre incident as Shreya Yadav, a native of Ambedkar Nagar district of Uttar Pradesh, Tanya Soni from Telangana, and Nivin Dalwin, a resident of Kerala's Ernakulam, DCP Central M Harshavardhan told ANI.
Police have sent the bodies of the deceased to the Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital (RML) for an autopsy.
