New Delhi [India], December 11 : Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Dinesh Sharma on Wednesday lashed out at the opposition and said that they picked up random issues irrelevant to Parliament and created a ruckus about it.
Speaking to ANI, Sharma said "The Opposition seems to be failing in carrying out its constitutional duties. They pick up random issues irrelevant to the Parliament and create a ruckus about it... The members of the INDIA Alliance are tearing apart, to keep them together, the Congress is coming up with various issues...they are not letting the Parliament function in this attempt. The sentiment of accountability towards the public is missing in the Opposition... The issue of Soros is about the country and how they run fake narratives to create instability in the country... And his connections are visible with the Opposition leaders. So, a discussion on it is necessary for the sovereignty of the country. But the Opposition is taking up random issues to avoid discussions on this topic..."
Further, speaking on the checking of the EVM machines by the Election Commission, Sharma said that the Opposition had a 'jihad' against the people.
"You must have seen that the Election Commission did random checking and conducted checks of the EVms after the elections. I don't think they blame the EVMS. They aren't blaming EVMs, it is a 'jihad' against the people. They are only seeing it in the places they have lost the elections in..." he said.
Earlier today, opposition MPS staged a unique protest to the Parliament and gave roses and Indian flags to the NDA MPs.
TMC MP Sushmita Dev said, "...NDA is National Disaster Alliance. They have only one aim - there should be no discussion in the House. In Rajya Sabha, TMC gave two notices on inflation and the rising price of fertilisers...Parliamentary Affairs Minister should be ashamed that he is not able to run the Parliament. We are continuously saying that Parliament should be run..."
Congress MP Pramod Tiwari said, "I think the ruling government does not want to hold discussion on the Constitution. I want to ask the Kiren Rijiju will you define the Vice President post by caste and religion? You don't let the Leader of the Opposition in Rajya Sabha speak because he comes from the Dalit community? I accuse BJP govt of being anti-Dalit..."
Both Houses of Parliament have seen stormy sittings in this winter session with the Opposition MPs wanting to raise the issue of alleged charges against industrialist Gautam Adani and the BJP accusing the Congress of having links with US billionaire George Soros to destabilise the country.
The Winter session of Parliament commenced on November 25, with both Houses getting adjourned fairly early due to disruptions. The Winter Session will go on till December 20.
