New Delhi [India], November 22 : Bharatiya Janata Party's National General Secretary Tarun Chugh criticised the Congress party for blaming EVMs for their defeat in the previous elections, and expressed that the INDIA bloc led by Congress will be "wiped out" in the upcoming results for Maharashtra and Jharkhand assembly.
"Those who have been blaming EVMs for their defeat, when they won the elections in Karnataka, Himachal Pradesh and Telangana, the EVMs were correct," he told ANI.
Saying that the people will bless the party to form the government, he said that the opposition's anger and desperation is clearly visible.
"Just like people rejected Congress in Jammu and Kashmir and Haryana, similarly in Maharashtra and Jharkhand too, the Congress-led alliance will be wiped out, the people will give a befitting reply to the corrupt, parivarvaad. PM Modi's government, which works for the poor, women and the youth will get the blessings of the people," Chugh added.
Earlier, BJP Spokesperson Pratul Shah Deo expressed confidence, saying that they believe that NDA's majority government will be formed in Jharkhand tomorrow evening.
Taking a dig at the ruling party Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM), Deo said that people have ousted them for misgovernance, loot and false promises that occurred in the last 5 years and hence, JMM can day-dream for one more day.
"Only a day is left in the counting to begin and only a day is left for the JMM to be happy. They can daydream and be happy for now because the reality on the evening of November 23 is going to be very rude for them. People have ousted them and voted against the misgovernance, loot and false promises that occurred in the last 5 years," he told ANI.
The counting for the assembly polls in Maharashtra and Jharkhand are going to happen on Saturday, November 23.
In Maharashtra, the BJP is in alliance with Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena Ajit Pawar-led and Nationalist Congress Party, called the Mahayuti. The Mahayuti is facing a tough battle against the opposition Maha Vikas Agadhi (MVA), comprising of Congress, Uddhav Thackeray-led Shiv Sena and Sharad Pawar-led NCP. One needs to secure atleast 145 seats to secure a majority in the 288 seat assembly.
In the 81 seat assembly of Jharkhand, the BJP seeks to defeat the ruling JMM party.
For this assembly elections, the BJP is in alliance with All Jharkhand Students Union (AJSU), Janata Dal (United), and Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas). While the JMM-led alliance consists of Congress, Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), and the Communist Party of India (Marxist-Leninist).
