Three militants killed in gunfight with police in Assam

Cachar (Assam) [India], July 18 : Three Hmar militants were killed during a gunfight with police in a hilly area in the Cachar district of Assam on Tuesday, July 16.
According to Kangkan Jyoti Saikia, Deputy Inspector General (South Range), the police team was escorting out three militants apprehended by them in the Bhuban Hills area of Cachar district when another group of militants started to fire at them. During the gunfight, those three militants were injured and later rushed to the hospital, where they were declared dead upon arrival by the doctors.
"When the police team and the apprehended three militants reached the Bhuban Hills area, another militant group started firing upon the police team and the police team also retaliated. During the gunfight, three militants were injured and they were immediately rushed to Sonai Hospital and later shifted to Silchar Medical College Hospital. But doctors declared them brought dead," Kangkan Jyoti Saikia said.
He further mentioned that the police apprehended those three militants along with arms and they were leading the police team to locate another group of militants in the Bhuban Hills area.
State Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma also confirmed the news of the killing of the militants.
"In an early morning operation, @cacharpolice killed 3 Hmar militants from Assam and neighbouring Manipur. Police also recovered 2 AK rifles, 1 other rifle, and 1 pistol," he posted on X.
The police had recovered two AK series rifles, one 9 mm pistol, along with ammunition and other weapons from them.
