Doda (Jammu and Kashmir) [India], October 13 : Questioning the law and order situation in Maharashtra, Aam Aadmi party leader Sanjay Singh on Sunday blamed the Shinde government for Baba Siddiqui's murder on Saturday night.

Baba Siddique sustained two gunshot wounds to his chest before being brought to Mumbai's Lilavati Hospital for emergency treatment, where he succumbed on Saturday night, doctors at the hospital said.

Expressing shock over the NCP leader's murder, Singh said that Siddiqui was under Y category security, still there was a security lapse.

"Whenever there is BJP in power there is crimes, loot, murder and dacoity. Gang wars happen every day in Delhi, the national capital...the same situations are now there in Mumbai. Baba Siddique who had Y-category security and was part of the ruling government in Maharashtra," Singh said.
"I think it's a tight slap on the Shinde govt and the people of Maharashtra will teach a lesson to the BJP and the Maharashtra govt. The name of Bishnoi is also coming into this incident," the AAP leader added.

Meanwhile, Maharashtra Minister and NCP (Ajit Pawar faction) leader Chhagan Bhujbal said that the duty of the police is not limited to merely giving security but to investigating from where the threats are coming. He claimed that the Police was aware of the threats received by Baba Siddiqui

"It is saddening. In the last 10 days, one Talluka Pramukh and one leader of NCP have been murdered. Police were aware of the threats and Y security was provided to him. The duty of the police is not limited to merely giving security but to investigating from where the threats are coming, and who are those giving these threats... Police should take strict action as soon as possible... There is no political angle to it, I have zero doubts regarding that. I don't know if there is any personal reason, the police are to investigate that," Bhujbal said.

Siddique, a leader in Ajit Pawar's faction of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), was shot at near Nirmal Nagar in Bandra. He later succumbed to his bullet injuries at Lilavati Hospital late Saturday night.

The Mumbai Crime Branch has registered a case at Nirmal Nagar Police Station in connection with the murder under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, Arms Act and Maharashtra Police Act.

The case has been registered at Nirmal Nagar Police Station under Crime Registration No. 589/2024, Sections 103(1), 109, 125, and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), along with Sections 3, 25, 5, and 27 of the Arms Act, and Section 37 and section 137 of the Maharashtra Police Act.
