"Time arrived to oust TMC," Tripura CM urges voters in West Bengal

May 20, 2024

South 24 Parganas (West Bengal) [India], May 20 : Tripura Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha on Monday made a fervent appeal to the voters of West Bengal to oust the Trinamool Congress (TMC) government, which he claims is responsible for the misrule in the state.
Speaking at a major election rally in the Jayanagar Lok Sabha constituency in the district of South 24 Parganas, Saha emphasized the crucial role of the youth in driving this change.
"The Left Front government ruled Tripura for over 30 years. People wanted to oust them but failed. It was only possible due to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, that we were able to end the misrule of the Left Front. The same situation is happening in West Bengal. People wanted a change and brought the Trinamool Congress, but it was surprising to see that they are similar to the CPI(M). The state is witnessing massive violence during and after elections," Dr Saha stated.
He underscored that under Prime Minister Modi's leadership, Tripura experienced a peaceful election campaign in 2023, free from violence--a stark contrast to the ongoing unrest in West Bengal.
He criticized the TMC for its alleged destructive actions, including tearing down BJP flags and attacking party workers. "We have guardians like PM Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah. In Tripura, during the election campaign, I saw how people support the BJP. In the 2023 Assembly election, not a single instance of violence took place. The time has arrived to oust the TMC from Bengal," Dr Saha urged, encouraging the electorate, particularly the youth, to oppose the TMC's misrule.
The Tripura CM reiterated that the BJP operates under the guidance of Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya's principles, focusing on serving every citizen. He lauded PM Modi's inclusive politics, which transcends caste and religion, benefiting youth, farmers, women, and the poor through various schemes.
Expressing confidence in the BJP's victory in Joynagar, Dr. Saha pointed to the evident support from the local populace. He also mentioned the BJP's ambitious target of winning 32 seats in West Bengal in the ensuing elections, a significant increase from their 18 seats in 2019.
Meanwhile, the Tripura CM also took to his official X handle and posted, "Patriots in Jayanagar are determined to liberate Bengal suffering from autocratic rule under the guise of democracy."
Later in the day, the Tripura CM campaigned in Kultoli Manik Pire under the Jayanagar constituency, rallying support for BJP candidate Dr Ashok Kandari.
The polling for 42 seats of West Bengal is being held across all seven phases. The counting of votes is scheduled for June 4.
The constituencies of Bangaon, Barrackpur, Howrah, Uluberia, Srerampur, Hooghly and Arambagh voted today in the fifth phase of Lok Sabha elections.
In 2019, BJP made strong inroads into TMC's hold in West Bengal, by winning 18 seats and being a close second to TMC, which won 22 seats.
