Medinipur (West Bengal) [India], May 19 : Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched attack on the ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC) in West Bengal, accusing the latter of appeasement and nepotism.
While addressing an election rally in West Bengal's Medinipur on Sunday, PM Modi said that TMC is "synonymous" with terrorism, appeasement, corruption, and nepotism.
"In Bengal, TMC is synonymous with terrorism, corruption, appeasement, and nepotism. To appease their vote bank, the TMC is insulting Hindu society and faith. The appeasement of the TMC has disturbed the demography in Bengal and completely ruined the social system. TMC calls people from other states of the country outsiders, but they consider illegal intruders as their own. These intruders disturb the population balance in the state. Hindus have become a minority in many areas, they are occupying the land of Dalits and backward classes," the Prime Minister said.
"BJP storm has started destroying the forts of TMC's terror, that is why TMC people in Bengal are more panicked, now just one more attack is needed on May 25th. It will not take long for the fort of terror and corruption of the TMC to fall in Bengal again," he added.
The Prime Minister further highlighted the distribution of citizenship certificates to a section of people earlier this month, adding that the Citizenship (Amendment) Act is "Modi's guarantee."
"TMC welcomes infiltrators, but it strongly opposes the Hindu minorities who have come here after being persecuted. I had promised that I would give citizenship to these refugee families, they are expecting this from us. TMC is opposing CAA and saying that we will not let it be implemented. TMC, Congress, and the Left should keep it in writing that as long as Modi is alive, they will not be able to do anything," he said.
"Just 4 days ago, a new beginning was made by granting citizenship to more than 300 refugees. I want to tell the TMC people to listen carefully, CAA is Modi's guarantee," PM Modi said.
Polling for 18 seats in Bengal was conducted across the first four phases, while the remaining 24 seats will go to the polls in the next three phases on May 20, May 25 and June 1. The counting of votes will be held on June 4.
In the fifth phase, polling will be held in Bangaon, Barrackpur, Howrah, Uluberia, Srerampur, Hooghly and Arambagh Lok Sabha constituencies on May 20. (ANI
