New Delhi [India], April 2 : Senior Aam Admi Party leader and Delhi Minister Saurabh Bhardwaj on Tuesday drew comparisons between Kejriwal's arrest and the British rule say that today the people are "scared" and it is a matter of "grave concern" for the country.
The AAP leader also said that the party is "still standing" despite its top leaders, including Chief Arvind Kejriwal, being arrested.
He said that the top leaders of the INDIA bloc gathered at the March 31 rally, which shocked the BJP, which, as per the AAP leader, "executed their plan" and "arrested all their big leaders."
Arvind Kejriwal was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate on March 21 in an alleged money laundering case linked to the now-scraped Delhi excise policy case. He has been sent to judicial custody until April 15.
"...What was seen at Ramlila Maidan on March 31, shocked the BJP. The biggest leaders of India's opposition parties gathered on that stage...All the senior leaders of our party are in jail," he said.
He mentioned that Delhi Minister Atishi, AAP MLA Durgesh Pathak, Rajya Sabha MP Sandeep Pathak and he himself called up these leaders, requesting that they come as our senior leaders were in jail and "we are doing a 'maharally' in Delhi".
"All the leaders said that they would definitely be there and they did...," he said.
The remarks were made at a press conference in New Delhi on Tuesday.
"BJP says that they did everything to us that they had to do. They executed their plan and arrested all our big leaders but the party is still standing...BJP knows that the people won't be scared to cast their votes," he alleged.
"Today, the people of the country are scared and it is a matter of grave concern for the country. People used to be scared during British rule...The British scared us with the threat of jail and ruled us. Today, the BJP government at the centre has become almost like that...," Bhardwaj, the senior AAP leader, said. ANI)
