"Top priority will be effective implementation of three criminal laws": BJP's Arjun Ram Meghwal

New Delhi [India], June 11 : After assuming charge as the Union Minister of Law and Justice, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Arjun Ram Meghwal said that his priority will be the effective and successful implementation of the three criminal laws passed by the Parliament last year.
Meghwal has retained his position as Minister of State (Independent charge) in the Ministry of Law and Justice in the newly formed NDA government.
Speaking with ANI, the MoS said, "Our top priority will be effective and successful implementation of the three criminal laws. Our focus is also on reducing the pendency of matters."
After assuming the charge as MoS on Tuesday, Meghwal signed a policy document of National Litigation Policy.
National Litigation Policy is formulated by the Ministry of Law and Justice. It aims to bring down the litigation from government agencies by making them more responsible in filing cases.
Meghwal has also assumed the charge as the Minister of State in the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs.
The portfolios of the ministers in PM Modi-led Union Cabinet were announced on Monday late evening.
Following the announcement, Arjun Ram Meghwal stated on X, "I express my heartfelt gratitude to the PM Narendra Modi Ji for entrusting me once again with the responsibilities of the Union Ministry of Law and Justice and the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs. I pledge to faithfully fulfill my duties under the esteemed leadership and guidance of the Prime Minister."
Meghwal, who is a four-time MP from Bikaner for the fourth time, joined politics after leaving his job as a civil servant.
In the 2024 general elections, Arjun Ram Meghwal defeated Govindram Meghwal of Congress from Rajasthan's Bikaner seat by 55,711 votes.
Arjun Ram Meghwal has served as the Minister of State (MoS) in the Ministry of Law and Justice (Independent Charge) since 2023, as MoS for Parliamentary Affairs since 2017.
