Tripura: 50 Students of Budjung Girls School hospitalised following 'food consumption'

Agartala (Tripura) [India], June 20 : District Magistrate and Collector, West Tripura, Vishal Kumar, said that as many as 50 students of Budjung Girls School were hospitalised after taking food in a hostel run by an NGO.
Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha said on Thursday that the government is taking the incident very seriously.
Today at morning, students of Budjung Girls school, approximately 50, felt pain in stomach because of taking food in hostel, which is run by an NGO, Kumar said, adding, "Out of 50 students, fifteen students had been hospitalised in GBP hospital for further treatment".
"I have visited both places & 35 students in the hotel are stable and fifteen got admitted are being given treatment and are under observation," Kumar said.
"35 students who are in the hostel now, would be back to either parents or hostel as per wish. Students admitted in hospital,are stable by evening may be released," Kumar added.
Officials from the Administration, health, education, and tribal welfare departments have met the students, Kumar said.
"Enquiry is on to root out the source of this ailments. Food samples have been taken, Ward members are being asked, Cook has also been taken for proper enquiry," Kumar added.
"If Negligence is found, proper action should be taken," Kumar said.
In a post in Hindi on X, CM Saha said, "I have come to know about the incident of illness of female students at Bodhjung Girls School, the government is taking the matter very seriously.".

"GB Hospital authorities have already been instructed to ensure the treatment of sick female students with the highest priority. Besides, the officers in charge of administration have been directed to investigate the whole matter," his post added.
