Tripura: Blood donation camp held in Agartala, state minister urges women to come forward

Agartala (Tripura) [India], May 19 : Tripura State Aids Control Society and Health Department organized a blood donation camp at Agartala Government Nursing College here on Sunday.
In today's camp, minister Santana Chakma donated blood to encourage blood donors and urged the public, especially women to come forward to donate blood. Chief Minister Manik Saha has several times appealed that the women in the state should also come forward to donate blood.
Minister Chakma said, "As a social worker, I believe it's important to donate blood. And it's our duty to donate blood to emergency patients as a social responsibility. It's a great pleasure for us. I will also request others to come forward to donate blood."
To keep the balance in the fourteen blood banks in the State of Tripura, blood donation camps have been a regular practice in response to the appeal of CM Saha.
The blood donation camp was organized by the AIDS Control Society and the Department of Health Family Welfare Department, Govt. of Tripura.
Tripura Health Secretary Kiran Gitte appealed to people to donate blood voluntarily to keep the body fit.
"Today's blood donation camp has been organised by the health department. Blood donation camps are very useful for blood transfusion, and I appeal to all to come forward for voluntary blood donation. Voluntary blood donation helps our body stay fit and fine," Gitte said,
Minister Santana Chakma, Health Department Secretary Kiran Kumar Gitte and Director of Family Welfare and Preventive Medicine, Dr Anjan Das and Dr Sanjiv Debbarma, Director of Health Services, were present on the occasion.
