Tripura hosts grand reception for newly appointed Telangana Governor Jishnu Dev Varma in Agartala

Agartala (Tripura) [India], August 10 : Tripura Government hosted a grand civic reception for Jishnu Dev Varma, who recently took charge as the Governor of Telangana, at Agartala on Saturday.
Taking to his social media handle on X, Chief Minister Manik Saha posted, "Today, a 'Civic Reception' was held in honour of Jishnu Dev Varma, the former Deputy CM of Tripura, who recently took charge as the Governor of Telangana on July 31, 2024."
"This is a historic moment for Tripura, as 'Jishnu Karta' is the 1st person from the state to hold this prestigious position post-independence. On behalf of the people of Tripura, I conveyed my best regards to him," read the post.
Former Jishnu Dev Varma, a senior BJP leader, was appointed as the Governor of Telangana earlier on July 28 by President Droupadi Murmu.
Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha earlier said that PM Narendra Modi and President Droupadi Murmu have honoured the people of Tripura by nominating Varma for the Governor's position.
Sharing a photo on his X, Saha said earlier, "I met and greeted the former Deputy Chief Minister and senior leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party Jishnu Dev Varma on his appointment as the Governor of Telangana. President Droupadi Murmu, and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, honoured the people of Tripura by nominating Dev Varma for the position of Governor."
Jishnu Dev Varma was born in Agartala on August 15, 1957 and has been serving as the 4th and current Governor of Telangana since July 31, 2024.
He is from Tripura and previously served as the second Deputy Chief Minister of Tripura from 2018 to 2023.
