Tripura: Sonamura Police seizes 1,670 bottles of illegal cough syrup Eskuf

Agartala (Tripura) [India], June 19 : In a significant crackdown on illegal substances, the Sonamura police, led by Sub Inspector (SI) Tapan Das, raided the house of Anwar Hossain in Kulubari village, located in West Tripura. The operation resulted in the seizure of 1670 bottles of the banned cough syrup Eskuf, a substance with an estimated market value of approximately Rs 7 lakh.
The raid took place on June 18 at around 8:00 pm.
Anwar Hossain, the prime suspect in the case, managed to escape and is currently on the run. The police have registered a case against him under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. The police have launched a manhunt for Anwar Hossain and are appealing to the public for any information that could lead to his arrest.
Meanwhile, Tapan Das, SI, Sonamura Police Station informed about the raid and said, "We raided the house of Anwar Hossain in Kulubari last night around 9 PM. The operation resulted in the seizure of 1670 bottles of Eskuf, a substance with an estimated market value of approximately Rs 7 lakh.
He further added, "Anwar Hossain, the prime suspect in the case, managed to escape... The police have registered a case against him under the NDPS Act. We are determined to keep up our efforts to eradicate the menace of illegal substances from our community. This seizure is a testament to our relentless pursuit of a drug-free society."
A week earlier also, the Bamutia police successfully seized 75 bottles of Eskuf, from the Rangutia area of Tripura, the officials had said.
The raid, executed at the residence of Narayan Das, resulted in the recovery of the illegal cough syrup. While no arrests were made during the operation, authorities managed to locate and seize 75 bottles of the contraband from a nearby forest on June 12.
The operation had took place under the leadership of officer-in-charge Slanthony Jamatia.
