Indore (Madhya Pradesh) [India], July 11 : Two persons, including a college girl, were arrested for allegedly being involved in the murder of another girl student in Madhya Pradesh's Indore district, a police official said on Thursday.
The arrested accused have been identified as Gaurav Sarkaar (23) and Snigdha Mishra. The murder occurred over two months ago in the last week of April this year under the jurisdiction of Kshipra police station in the district, said Hitika Vasal, Superintendent of Police (SP, Rural).
"A missing complaint of a college student Syed Sahara was reported at Kshipra police station (On April 26) and when the police investigated the matter seriously, it was found that she was last seen with a person named Gaurav. Police were continuously investigating the case and were also questioning Gaurav. He was repeatedly misleading the police and was also changing his location," Vasal told reporters.
Recently, the police caught him from Nashik where he was working as a waiter and brought him back here. When he was seriously interrogated then it came to light that he along with his friend Snigdha Mishra had murdered Sahara and thrown her body in the Harsola forest, the SP said.
"The main reason for the murder that has come to light is that Gaurav likes Sahara but she likes someone else. While Snigdha likes Gaurav and Gaurav has also blackmailed Snigdha that if she does not help him then he will leave her. There are two accused in this case Gaurav and Snigdha. Both of them made the entire planning of the murder and they had also done recce of many spots. After that they finalised the spot," SP Vasal said.
"On the incident day (April 25), Gaurav called Sahara and asked her for a visit to Choral and Omkareshwar and then picked up Snigdha from her college with him on the way. The trio went for the trip but on the way, Gaurav moved the car towards the forest and stopped there. He killed Sahara by strangling her and also attacked her with a knife," she added.
The police have searched the incident spot a lot and have found many such items whose samples were being collected to be sent for DNA testing. The full body has not been found, some things like a bracelet which was identified by the family, some personal belongings, hair, clothes have been found from the spot, the officer further said.
Further investigation into the matter is underway, the SP added.
