UP: Assets worth Rs 1.80 crore belonging to Mukhtar Ansari's gang seized

Mau (Uttar Pradesh) [India], November 23 : Assets worth about Rs 1.80 crore belonging to Suresh Singh of gangster Mukhtar Ansari's gang, have been seized by the Mau District Magistrate, said City Magistrate Tribhuvan.
The seizure has been done under the Uttar Pradesh Gangsters & Anti-Social Activities (Prevention) Act of 1986.
"Assets worth about Rs 1.80 crore belonging to Suresh Singh of gangster Mukhtar Ansari's gang, have been seized by the Mau DM, under UP Gangsters & Anti-Social Activities (Prevention) Act of 1986," said City Magistrate Tribhuvan.
The Magistrate also informed that four vehicles estimated to be worth Rs 33.10 lakhs of Mahmood Ahmed, another Mukhtar Ansari gang member, have been seized by the DM, under the same act.
Earlier on Sunday, Uttar Pradesh Police attached a piece of land belonging to the wife of gangster Mukhtar Ansari in Lucknow, under the Uttar Pradesh Gangsters and Anti-Social Activities (Prevention) Act.
Earlier today, Ansari's Lucknow-based land under UP Gangsters Act and Anti-Social Activities (Prevention) Act was confiscated.
According to the police, the confiscated property was registered under the name of Ansari's wife which was worth Rs 3 crore.
Ansari's gang is registered as IS (Inter-State) Gang 191 in police records.
"A case was registered against the gangster at Tarwan police station in Azamgarh district under the Gangster Act," the police said on Saturday.
Mukhtar Ansari, a former gangster-turned-politician is currently lodged in Uttar Pradesh's Banda jail. Ansari, an MLA from Mau in eastern Uttar Pradesh, is facing 52 cases in Uttar Pradesh and elsewhere, and 15 of them are in the trial stage.
Earlier on November 7, Enforcement Directorate (ED) had reached Banda's Mandal Jail and interrogated Bahujan Samaj Party MLA Mukhtar Ansari in an alleged money laundering case.
