Agra (Uttar Pradesh) [India], October 18 : Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya expressed confidence in the BJP's victory in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, predicting that the party would win all 80 seats in the state, more than the seats it won in 2019.
He said, "BJP is going to form a government with a full majority again in 2024. More than last time, the BJP will win 80 out of 80 seats in Uttar Pradesh."
In a press conference in Agra on Wednesday, Maurya said that the opposition was "issue-less and leaderless," and that its alliance was unravelling.
Keshav Prasad Maurya said, "The opposition is issue-less and leaderless, the opposition has no face, the alliance of the opposition has started to unravel, and there is a rift between the Samajwadi Party and the Congress. The opposition is doomed to fail."
On the question of SP leader Samajwadi Party leader Azam Khan, wife, son Abdullah who were today given a 7-year jail in fake birth certificate case, Maurya said "The matter was in court and that the BJP would not comment on it. Anyone who did wrong would not be spared, regardless of their political affiliation."
Meanwhile, Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya took a jibe at Akhilesh Yadav, supremo of the Samjwadi Party, saying that the SP chief should explain why he is sitting in the 'lap of Congress' party.
He further hit out at Yadav, asking for an explanation from the latter over joining hands with the Congress that imposed an emergency in the country.
"...Congress wants to end democracy in this country. It imposed an emergency and tried to weaken the roots of democracy. The Congress was uprooted at that time too, and the BJP will do it now too. Akhilesh Yadav should explain why he is sitting in Congress's lap. He has no right to pay tribute to Jayaprakash Narayan if he is sitting in the lap of Congress... He is restless without power..." Maurya said.
