Uttarakhand CM Dhami monitors rescue operations in disaster-affected areas

Dehradun (Uttarakhand) [India], August 2 : Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami is continuously monitoring the relief and rescue operations in the disaster-affected areas of the state, officials said.
On Friday, the Chief Minister called Secretary Home Shailesh Bagoli, Director General of Police Abhinav Kumar and Commissioner Garhwal Vinay Shankar Pandey to the Secretariat and got updated information from them about the disaster situation in the state and relief and rescue operations.
The Chief Minister asked to ensure movement through the Kedarnath footpath along with arrangements for the safe return of the passengers stranded in Kedarnath.
The Chief Minister has directed that, in cases of road obstruction due to heavy rains, minimum time should be taken to make them smooth.
He also directed to make the traffic smooth as soon as possible by building a Bailey bridge in case of a bridge collapse and said that it should be ensured that people get a smooth supply of drinking water and electricity.
The Chief Minister has also directed the officials to keep all the arrangements in view of the convenience of the devotees on the Chardham Yatra routes.
If the routes are obstructed anywhere due to heavy rains on the Yatra route or there appears to be any danger ahead, then the passengers should be stopped at safe places. The Chief Minister has directed all the concerned officers, including the District Magistrates, to remain in alert mode at all times in view of the disaster.
