Dehradun (Uttarakhand) [India], October 3 : In a significant move, the Central government has increased the additional power quota allotted to Uttarakhand by 180 MW and extended its time period till June 30, 2025.
With this move, the people of the State will now get uninterrupted electricity even in winter as per a release.
On September, 26, 300 MW additional power was allotted to Uttarakhand by the central government till March, 31, 2025. Thus, now a total of 480 MW additional power will be available to Uttarakhand from the central pool.
Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Energy Minister Manohar Lal Khattar for this regard.
Earlier, CM Dhami met with Union Minister Khattar and requested allocation of additional power to Uttarakhand from the central pool to get rid of the power crisis in the State.
The Chief Minister told the Union Minister that the gap between the demand and availability of electricity in the state is continuously increasing. To increase power generation, the state government is working on a long-term plan for power generation from solar energy, hydro power and coal.
Due to snowfall and other reasons in winter, the fall in the production of hydropower projects often affects the power supply in the State.
CM Dhami expressed his gratitude on the approval of 480 MW additional power to Uttarakhand from the central pool. He said that with the receipt of 480 MW of power from the central pool, now the people of the state will continue to get uninterrupted electricity even in winter.
