Uttarakhand CM Dhami wishes citizens on occasion of folk festival 'Igas'

Dehradun (Uttarakhand) [India], November 12 : Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami extended greetings to the people of the state on the occasion of Uttarakhand's folk festival 'Igas' on Tuesday.
Igas festival, also known as Budhi Diwali, honours the Goddess Nanda Devi and celebrates harvest, fertility, and prosperity.
In a video message shared on X, CM Dhami appreciated efforts to preserve the cultural heritage of the state and celebrate the local festivals.
"Greetings to everyone on the occasion of Uttarakhand's folk festival "Igas" and Budhi Diwali. It is extremely pleasant to see the effort of the locals to preserve the cultural heritage of the state and celebrate the local festivals. Last year under the guidance of PM Modi all the workers were rescued from the Silkyara tunnel and after that, Igas was celebrated along with them. Igas is getting recognition at national and international levels. It is being celebrated with enthusiasm outside the state also," the Chief Minister said.
He said that the state government is committed to preserving the folk festival of the state.
"For the preservation of our cultural heritage and traditions, the efforts of all the people of the state to celebrate local folk festivals with full enthusiasm and to take them to our future generations are commendable," he said.
Earlier, Prime Minister Narendra Modi also extended greetings to all the countrymen and wished for happiness, prosperity and well-being on the occasion.
"Many congratulations to all the countrymen including my family members of Uttarakhand on the occasion of Igas festival! Today in Delhi, I also got the privilege of participating in this festival at the residence of Anil Baluni ji, Lok Sabha MP from Uttarakhand. I wish that this festival brings happiness, prosperity and well-being in everyone's life," PM Modi said in a post on X.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi along with CM Dhami attended the celebrations at the residence of BJP MP Anil Banuli in New Delhi on Monday night.

PM Modi was wearing a traditional Uttarakhand cap and greeted with Sadhus and Saints present at the residence of Baluni. On the occasion PM Modi, worshipped the Tulsi plant, lit the Igas flame and performed Aarti.
Igas Bagwal festival is widely celebrated in Uttarakhand, after 11 days of Diwali. It is also called Budhi Diwali.
