"Vision of PM Modi is climate action-oriented": Bhupender Yadav

New Delhi [India], June 28 : Union Minister for Environment, Forest and Climate Change Bhupender Yadav said that the government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi has made sustainability a key aspect of India's developmental journey.
"The government led by PM Modi has made sustainability a key aspect of India's developmental journey. We are striving for climate action from the individual to the government's policy-making levels. Only by working together can we save our planet for generations to come," He said.
Addressing the Times Network India Climate Summit in Delhi, Bhupender Yadav said, "After the results were declared on June 4, the first event which Prime Minister Narendra Modi held on June 5 was 'Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam'. The vision and mission of our Prime Minister is climate action-oriented".
Prime Minister, Narendra Modi has launched 'Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam' Campaign on the occasion of World Environment Day, June 5. PM Modi planted a Peepal tree at Buddha Jayanti Park in Delhi.
The Environment Minister also referred to the 2015 Paris Agreement. The Paris Agreement is an international treaty on climate change that was adopted in 2015.
"In the Paris Agreement that was signed in 2001, it was recognized that the world recognizes the cultural values that consider the earth as their mother. And that is why when Mother Earth gives birth to us and brings us to this Earth, to express our duty towards her, to express our gratitude, we should plant at least one tree that we will nurture throughout our lives, this one tree is dedicated to Mother. There are three issues before us in the world," Bhupinder Yadav said
"At the international level, India has created the International Solar Alliance for renewable energy, today its headquarters is also in Gurgaon. For the storms that are coming into the environment due to heat waves, a Coalition for Disaster Resilience Infrastructure has been created. The Cabinet has also given it the status of an international organization. To save biological diversity in the world, to preserve and conserve our big cats. How to implement green technology in the industrial sectors that are called hard to abate, like the aluminium sector, the transportation leadership and Industrial Transformation LedIT in collaboration with the United Nations. And recently when the last COP was held, the Prime Minister launched the second phase of Led IT 2 Point and we launched the Green Climate Fund across the world," the minister added.
The minister asked everyone to plant at least one tree during their lifetime. "At least, we should plant a tree and tend to it for the rest of our life. That is 'Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam'".
In a post on X, on June 5, PM Modi said, "It would make you all very happy that in the last decade, India has undertaken numerous collective efforts which have led to increased forest cover across the nation. This is great for our quest towards sustainable development. It is also commendable how local communities have risen to the occasion and taken a lead in this".
