Kurukshetra (Haryana) [India], September 30 : Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition and Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Monday slammed Prime Minister Narendra Modi for neglecting farmers and said that he wants to break the 'Chakravyuh' of the Bharatiya Janata Party.
"We don't want such an India where 25 people enjoy themselves, organise weddings worth thousands of crores of rupees and farmers and labourers die of hunger. To change this, we have to break the Chakravyuh of Narendra Modi and BJP. Narendra Modi's God is Adani. Whatever Adani says, Narendra Modi does it. Adani says- Mumbai airport is required, Apple business is required in Himachal Pradesh, Apple-walnut business is needed in Kashmir, thousands of acres of farmers' land is needed Narendra Modi gives them all that," Rahul Gandhi asserted while addressing a poll rally in Thanesar.
He further went on to say that the loans of labourers and poor people should also be waived off.
"Land acquisition, MANREGA, right to food--these are the works of Congress. The public benefitted from these works. Our aim is that if the loans of billionaires are waived off, then the loans of farmers, labourers, and poor people should also be waived off," he said.
He further said, "Few days ago, I went to America and met youths from Haryana there. 20-25 youths live in a small room there... They spent Rs 30-35 lakh, someone sold his land, someone took loan from moneylender since banks won't give them money as they give money only to Adani... I asked them why they did not start a business back here rather than spending Rs 30-35 lakh. They told me they have nothing left in Haryana; small and middle-size businesses cannot run in Haryana. If youth want employment in Haryana, they will never get it. For that, there is only one way - America. And there, Narendra Modi's friend Trump is trying to block their way."
Meanwhile, Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi attacked the BJP government and held the Union government responsible for farmers' "miserable condition."
"My farmer brothers work very hard on the fields to feed the people of the nation. Your sons are protecting the borders and us. This government (BJP) only brings black laws. They called you, the farmers, anti-nationals. Don't forget that the BJP government is responsible for your miserable condition today," Priyanka said.
Rahul Gandhi, former CM Bhupinder Singh Hooda, party leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, and MPs Kumari Selja and KC Venugopal urged voters to caste their votes in favour of Congress as they displayed a show of strength at a public rally in Ambala, earlier today.
Haryana will go to the polls on October 5 to elect its 90-member state legislative assembly, with counting set to take place on October 8.
In the 2019 elections, the BJP emerged as the single-largest party, securing 40 seats, while Congress won 30 seats.
