"We planted two crore trees in four years," says Delhi Minister Gopal Rai

New Delhi [India], July 20 : Praising Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal's plantation campaign - 'Jahan Vikas Wahan Vrindavan', Delhi Minister Gopal Rai said that the programme has been initiated with the intention of improving the environment of the national capital.
"Ever since Arvind Kejriwal's government was formed, development work has been going on continuously in Delhi, but to improve the environment of Delhi along with development work. The Delhi government has started a campaign called 'Jahan Vikas Wahan Vrindavan', for which a tree plantation programme is going on all over Delhi, " said Gopal Rai.
"We planted two crore trees in four years; this year all the agencies of the Delhi government together are planting 64 lakh trees, but to make this a mass campaign, I am going to different assembly constituencies of Delhi. People are being given trees and they are being told about it," he added.
In a post on X, he wrote, "The aim of the Kejriwal government is to increase the green cover of Delhi, under which saplings were distributed today in Rajouri Garden Assembly along with local @MLADHANWATIAAP and Municipal Councillor. A target has been set to distribute/plant 64 lakh saplings this year in Delhi."
Meanwhile, a similar tree plantation drive under 'Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam' campaign launched by PM Modi, Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath planted saplings at Gorakhpur Zoo.
"I am seeing across the state that every organisation and institution is joining this program... Everyone has the same call that 'Plant trees, save the environment- Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam'... We will rapidly take this program forward in the state... Our government has made a record of planting 168 crore trees in the last 7 years. It has been possible due to public participation..." said CM Yogi.
UP Deputy CM Keshav Prasad Maurya said, "Trees should be planted and saved for the nation, humanity and future. Uttar Pradesh is playing a big role in Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam campaign launched by PM Modi..."
