"We were being targeted one by one in Congress": Girraj Malinga after joining BJP
Nov 05, 2023
Jaipur (Rajasthan) [India], November 6 : Girraj Singh Malinga, a Congress MLA from Bari who joined the Bharatiya Janta Party on Sunday, said that he switched parties because the leaders were being targeted in the party one by one.
Rajasthan is headed for Assembly elections on November 25.
After joining the BJP in the presence of Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, Malinga said that the Congress leadership had not even inquired about the reasons for his departure.
"In the last 15 years, a lot has happened to me in Congress... We were being targeted one by one. In Dholpur, the Congress is being run by Pradhyuman Singh. Whatever he says is final, no one else is listened to... Our only fault was we were loyal to the party... They didn't even ask why we resigned. We were standing with the Mallikarjun Kharge, those who opposed him were rewarded with ministerial positions..." Malinga said.
On being asked about the chances of nomination for the Rajasthan assembly elections for the BJP, he said that ticket is not an issue for him.
"Whatever the party (BJP) decides is acceptable to us. Ticket is not an issue for me..." he added.
He also said that hebadmires the policies of the BJP and the work done by Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the country.
"I liked the policies of the BJP and I am inspired by the work of PM Modi that he has done in the favour of the country," he said.
There are reports that Malinga, a three-time legislator from the Bari constituency in Dholpur, was again eyeing a party ticket ahead of the 2023 polls but was denied due to his alleged involvement in attacking 28-year-old engineer Harshadhipati Valmiki, working with the Rajasthan power board.
