Chittorgarh (Rajasthan) [India], October 2 : Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday made a strong attack on the Ashok Gehlot government in Rajasthan, accusing it of vote bank politics and said the government which cannot protect the lives of common people should be voted out.
Addressing a rally here, PM Modi also targeted the Congress over the divisions in the party, saying while Chief Minister Gehlot was busy securing his seat in the state, his detractors were busy making efforts to remove him.
He attacked the Gehlot government over the incidents of crime in the state including “atrocities against women and Dalits”.
The Prime Minister referred to the brutal killing of Kanhaiya Lal, a tailor, inside his shop in Udaipur by two men in broad daylight on June 28 last year over a social media post. The beheading had sparked outrage across the country.
"What happened in Udaipur was not even imagined by anyone... People come on the pretext of getting clothes stitched and cut the throats of tailors without any fear or dread. Congress saw a vote bank even in this case. I want to ask Congress, what did the Congress party do during the Udaipur tailor killing, they played vote-bank politics...?" PM Modi said.
National Investigation Agency (NIA) filed a chargesheet in December last year against 11 accused over Kanhaiya Lal’s killing.
The agency said that the two assailants circulated the video of the murder on social media to create panic and terror amongst the masses across the country.
PM Modi also accused the Congress government of corruption.
“CM Gehlot was busy securing his seat in the state and his party (Congress) was busy snatching his seat... Every leader of Congress has considered himself the government of Rajasthan. Congress left no stone unturned in looting the state,” he said.
"I want to guarantee the youth of Rajasthan that the paper leak mafia will be held accountable and punished. 'Paper leak mafia ka paataal mein bhi jakar hisab kiya jaega’,” he added.
PM Modi said the people of Rajasthan are saying with great confidence and trust that BJP will make the state prosperous.
“BJP will come, hooliganism will go, BJP will come and stop the riots, BJP will come and stop stone pelting, BJP will come and stop dishonesty, BJP will come, it will bring women security, BJP will come and bring employment, BJP will come and make Rajasthan prosperous. The message of the people of the state has reached the ears of Congress leaders,” he said.
PM Modi accused the Congress and other opposition parties of trying to divide people on caste lines.
"We are seeing every day what insulting things the leaders of the Congress' 'Ghamandiya' alliance are saying about women. They do not want women to get their rights, hence they are making excuses and spreading confusion in the name of caste and religion," he said.
"I feel pain when atrocities take place against daughters anywhere in the country but Congress has made this a tradition in Rajasthan. Every woman and daughter of Rajasthan is saying BJP will come to power and bring women security,” he added.
