Indore (Madhya Pradesh) [India], October 13 : Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Kailash Vijayvargiya has taken a jibe at Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi and Congress MP Rahul Gandhi saying that whether it was Priyanka or Rahul, there was nothing but lies.
Vijayvargiya made the remark while speaking to ANI on Friday in view of Priyanka Gandhi's visit to Mandla district in the state on Thursday.
"Whether it is Priyanka Gandhi or Rahul Gandhi, there is nothing but lies. In the last elections also Rahul Gandhi betrayed the farmers, milk producers, and women working in the co-operative sector. Congress is still betraying," Vijayvargiya told ANI.
Priyanka Gandhi talked about forest rights in Mandla but the maximum lease of forest rights has been given by the BJP government. She should see and compare how many leases were given in the Digvijaya Singh-led Congress government and how many leases were given in the BJP government, he added.
The BJP leader further said, "Tribal people pluck tendu leaves and they used to get Rs 200 to Rs 300 a sack during the Congress rule and today we are giving them Rs 4000 a Sack. The BJP has actually secured the rights of the tribal people in the forests. Congress is making allegations against BJP by lying. The tribal people of the state know who is their well-wisher."
Earlier on Thursday, addressing the rally in Madhya Pradesh's Mandla district Priyanka Gandhi said, "Look at the tradition of Congress - Forest Rights Act was brought for you so that you have the first right over forests because that is your culture. To conserve and strengthen this, you were given the Forest Rights Act. Any political leader that comes here uses three words - Jal, Jungle, Zameen. But it is important to understand the underlying meaning. Is the leader speaking meaningfully or is that just a 'jumla' released before you...".
Madhya Pradesh is scheduled to undergo assembly polls on November 17. Through the polls, the state will elect legislators from 230 Assembly constituencies.
The election would be conducted in one phase in the state and the counting would be done on December 3.
