Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh) [India], September 6 : Madhya Pradesh Congress Party chief Jitu Patwari on Friday reacted over Ujjain rape incident asking why the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) protesting across the country against RG Kar medical college & hospital rape and murder incident, is silent over this issue.
A woman was allegedly raped in board daylight at a public place on a footpath in Madhya Ujjain district on September 4 and a video of the incident also went viral on social media. Following the complaint of the victim, the police arrested the accused on the same day and sent him to jail on the following day.
Speaking to ANI, MP Congress chief Patwari told ANI, "BJP is protesting across the country against rape and murder incident that occurred in Kolkata, West Bengal. While in Madhya Pradesh, 18 women get sexually assaulted daily. The limit got par after a woman was raped at a public place on footpath in Madhya Pradesh CM Mohan Yadav's constituency. Why is MP CM Mohan Yadav, Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), PM Narendra Modi silent?"
"The question is that there is 'Jungle Raj' in Madhya Pradesh in terms of law and order. No one is safe in Madhya Pradesh. PM Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah should bring it to their notice. BJP leaders are protesting across the country over the Kolkata incident, indeed it was a horrible incident and the accused should be hanged but they (BJP leaders) should also look at Madhya Pradesh what is the situation here, the condition is the worst here," Patwari said.
Reacting to Patwari's remark, Madhya Pradesh BJP chief and VD Sharma said that the Congress party is left with no issues to corner the Madhya Pradesh government and that's why they tried to give such a tone to the incident.
"Congress party has no issues to corner the Madhya Pradesh government and that's why they try to give such a tone to the incident. If anyone has committed any inappropriate act (referring to sexual assault incidents) with a person in the state they will face the law. The MP government is the first government in the country to introduce a law to give the death penalty to the perpetrators of these kinds of incidents," Sharma said.
"Patwari ji, it is not a Congress party government that such accused will be spared. But to defame Madhya Pradesh, you daily search for such things which is unfortunate. Any incident that happens in the state, the law does its work and it will do. If we talk about the Ujjain incident, the police took immediate action, arrested the accused and sent him to jail. The state government is ensuring that strict action is taken against such accused," he added.
