Jun 05, 2024

Ranchi (Jharkhand) [India], June 5 : Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) Rajya Sabha MP Mahua Maji praised the efforts of Kalpana Soren and Champai Soren for managing things in the absence of JMM chief Hemant Soren.
Speaking to ANI, Mahua Maji said, "We will come back stronger. The way Kalpana Soren and Champai Soren managed things in the absence of Hemant Soren and the way they regained the trust of the people that JMM is here to work for them, has helped us and the INDIA alliance greatly... We were sure of an undercurrent."
Exuding confidence in forming the government, Maji said, "Though the INDIA alliance has given tough competition, we can also form the government. If Nitish Kumar and some other leaders support us, we will form our government at the centre."
She further said, "Rahul Gandhi has already said this is not an exit poll, rather, it is a 'Modi-Media' poll. Even, 4-5 days ago, in a meeting of the INDIA alliance, Kharge Ji also conveyed that the INDIA alliance is clinching a majority with around 295 seats. Although the numbers we have got are not exact, we are relatively close to them."
However, the BJP faced a significant setback on Tuesday in the state's five tribal constituencies - Khunti, Singhbhum, Lohardaga, Rajmahal, and Dumka.
In Singhbhum, JMM's Joba Majhi won by a substantial margin of 1.68 lakh votes, defeating BJP's Geeta Kora.
In Rajmahal, JMM's Vijay Hansdak won by 1.78 lakh votes, defeating BJP's Tala Marandi.
In Dumka, JMM's Nalin Soren narrowly defeated BJP's Sita Soren by 22,527 votes in a closely contested race.
In 2019, the NDA won 12 in the state, with Congress and JMM each securing one seat.
