Jhajjar (Haryana) [India], August 25 : During his visit to Jhajjar on Sunday, Congress MP Deepender Hooda stated that if the Congress wins the upcoming assembly elections in the state and forms the government, it will fulfil the demands of Olympic medallist Manu Bhaker to build a stadium and shooting range in Jhajjar.
He also expressed pride in the fact that Haryana secured five out of the six medals won by India.
Speaking to the media, Congress MP Deepender Hooda said, "I congratulate Manu Bhaker as she has become the first athlete in history to win two Olympic medals in a single Olympics. It was a very proud moment for us, and five out of the six medals came from Haryana. Manu Bhaker has requested the construction of a stadium and shooting range in Jhajjar. If our government is formed, we will fulfil these demands..."
Earlier in the day, Indian shooter and double Olympic medallist Manu Bhaker called for enhanced facilities in her village to foster the next generation of athletes.
"If we get better facilities in our village, the children will go a long way. If we get stadiums and ranges, the children can achieve success," Bhaker stated.
The elections for Haryana's 90 assembly constituencies will be held in a single phase on October 1, with the counting of votes scheduled for October 4.
