Raipur (Chhattisgarh) [India], April 13 : Upon receiving a positive response from the public during campaigning ahead of the elections, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai on Saturday exuded confidence in BJP's victory in Chhattisgarh stating that the party will secure all 11 seats in the tribal state.
Responding to the Congress party's accusation of "democracy being killed under BJP", Sai dismissed it as a lack of substantial arguments from the opposition.
Addressing a Press conference in Raipur, CM Vishnu Deo Sai said, "Today, I went to two legislative assemblies. The atmosphere is in favor of the BJP in Marwahi and Bharatpur-Sonhat. We are winning 11 seats. The Congress has nothing, so they're saying anything. Emergency was imposed during their government and they talk about killing democracy.
On Congress leader Kanhaiya Kumar's remark of comparing Prime Minister Narendra Modi with General Dyer and Ravana, Sai said that such remarks have already been made in the past and there is nothing new.
He said, "the acceptance of Congress among the people of the country is lacking, and they will have to bear the consequences of such statements".
Reacting to Rahul Gandhi's statement that there are 22 people in India who possess as much wealth as 70 crore Indians, Vishnu Deo Sai remarked that "it has been 75 years since independence, out of which Congress ruled for 50-55 years. If such disparities exist, then it is the misdeed of those who were in power during that time".
The Chhattisgarh Chief Minister, earlier accused the Congress party of engaging in corruption during its 5-year term in Chhattisgarh and stated that was the reason why the people lost faith in it.
"The public has lost faith in the Congress party. In Chhattisgarh, people have completely lost trust in the party because, for the last 5 years, it has been involved in corrupt activities. Whether they promise to give Rs 1 lakh or Rs 5 lakh, people will not trust them. The BJP will win all 11 Lok Sabha seats in the state," he said.
Elections in the 11 parliamentary constituencies of Chhattisgarh will take place in two phases on April 26 and May 7. The counting of votes will be done on June 4.
The BJP, which has a stronghold in Chhattisgarh, won 9 seats in the 2019 Lok Sabha, while the Indian National Congress (INC) was limited to only 2 seats. In the 2014 election, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) won 10 seats, while the INC only managed to win one seat.
