With 72 new cases, Nepal's Covid-19 tally reaches 675, 4 deaths reported

Kathmandu [Nepal], May 25 : Nepal's Covid-19 tally has reached 675 after the confirmation of 72 new cases from nine different districts on Monday.
The new infections have been confirmed through tests carried out at National Public Health Laboratory, Kathmandu; BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences, Dharan; Rapti Academy of Health Sciences, Dang; Vector-Borne Disease Research and Training Centre, Hetauda; Bheri Hospital, Nepalgunj; Provincial Hospital and Regional Veterinary Laboratory, both in Surkhet, the Health Ministry said in a statement.
The ministry added that 26 individuals from Rautahat, 23 from Bara, six men and one woman from Dailekh, four men from Banke, three each from Dhanusa, Kapilvastu and Kathmandu, two persons from Saptari and one individual from Bardiya tested positive for coronavirus.
Meanwhile, a 70-year-old male person with underlying medical conditions from Birgunj of Parsa district has been confirmed to be the fourth fatality related to COVID-19 in the Himalayan nation.
The elderly person was admitted to the Narayani Hospital of Parsa District on May 15 and succumbed to the contagion on the 17th of this month, an official at the hospital said.
"He had symptoms that were suspicious we sent samples for the test which has tested positive for the virus. I received a mail sometime before from Kathmandu's lab that he indeed was COVID-19 positive," Madankumar Upadhyay, superintendent of Narayani Hospital, told ANI over the phone.
Nepal, which has been incomplete lockdown for two months, has seen a surge in cases of COVID-19 in recent days.
