New Delhi [India], May 19 : Launching a scathing attack on Delhi Chief Minister over Swati Maliwal's alleged assault case, BJP's Amaravati candidate Naveen Rana said on Sunday that the women of the country should not stand in support of Arvind Kejriwal.
"I wonder who says to the women of Delhi, Punjab and the country that I am your brother. But when his own party's Rajya Sabha member is beaten inside his own house, he does not say anything about the case. The women of the nation should not stand in support of Arvind Kejriwal," Rana said.
Meanwhile, Delhi Police on Sunday seized a CCTV DVR from Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal's residence.
As per the sources, Delhi Police will now retrieve the footage of the DVR with the help of technical experts and then an attempt will be made to analyse the sequence of crime.
Delhi Minister Saurabh Bharadwaj has also accused the Delhi Police of planting fake news to create an election narrative for the Bharatiya Janata Party.
Earlier, on Saturday, Kejriwal's personal aide, Bibhav Kumar, was arrested for the alleged assault on the AAP Rajya Sabha MP Maliwal.
"I believe an investigation agency should be impartial. The way the Delhi Police has been planting fake news from day one, it is clear that it is working to create an election narrative for the BJP. The CCTV cameras installed to check entry and exit inside the security area are under PWD and Delhi Police took all the CCTV footage yesterday and today Delhi Police has also taken the CCTV footage from inside the Chief Minister's residence, nothing has been deleted or tampered with. Delhi Police is working at the behest of BJP. What is written in the diary is confidential but Delhi Police distributed it to tarnish the image of AAP," Bharadwaj said.
Maliwal, in her complaint, alleged that Bibhav "slapped" her "at least seven to eight times" while she "continued screaming" and "brutally dragged" her while "kicking" her in her "chest, stomach and pelvis area."After his arrest, Bibhav was produced before Delhi's Tis Hazari Court, which remanded her in police custody for five days.
Bibhav lodged a counter-complaint with the police on Friday, accusing Maliwal of gaining 'unauthorised entry' into the CM's Civil Lines residence and 'verbally abusing' him.
