Sambhal (Uttar Pradesh) [India], May 16 : Expelled Congress leader Acharya Pramod Krishnam on Thursday took a dig at Rahul Gandhi over his 'BJP wants to "destroy" the Constitution' remarks, asking him to focus on the Congress party, adding that the Constitution is "safe in the hands" of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
"Rahul Gandhi should worry about Congress first. He has destroyed Congress. He should not worry about the Constitution. The 140 crore people of the country are worried about the constitution and they are going to choose PM Modi for the third term. The Constitution is safe in the hands of PM Modi," he told ANI.
Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, while addressing a rally in Odisha's Balangir, on Wednesday, said, " Today, leaders of the BJP say that if they win the elections, they will tear and throw away this (Constitution) book. I would like to tell all workers and leaders of the BJP - no force in the world can touch this (Constitution) book. If you try to tear and throw away this book (Constitution), watch what the country and Congress party do to you."
Krishnam also praised PM Modi, stating that only Narendra Modi can be considered the biggest secular leader after Mahatma Gandhi.
"After Mahatma Gandhi, if there's been any leader in this country who can be considered the biggest secular leader, it's Narendra Modi, because neither his schemes, nor his planning, nor his words ever reflect that he is a leader of any one community. He has never said, 'I am only a leader of Hindus,' he has never said that his schemes are not for Muslims, only for Hindus, or for only one community," he said.
Four phases of Lok Sabha polls have been held and the voting will conclude on June 1, with results on June 4. The remaining phases will be held on May 20, May 25, and June 1.
