Wrestling competitions are the identity of Himachal's tradition, culture: Vikramaditya Singh

Shimla (Himachal Pradesh) [India], June 30 : Inspiring the youth to take up wrestling as a sport, Himachal Pradesh Public Works Minister Vikramaditya Singh said that wrestling competitions are the identity of the state's tradition and culture.
Boileauganj Welfare Society Shimla organised a wrestling competition on Sunday. Vikramaditya Singh attended the event as the chief guest.
Vikramaditya Singh said, "Wrestling competitions are the identity of our culture. Wrestling has been organised in Boileauganj since 1969. Renowned wrestlers from the country come here. Today, sports are very important for the youth, who are falling prey to drug addiction in the state. Such events provide a platform to the youth and also encourage the wrestlers."
He said that to solve the problem of drinking water in Shimla, a project worth Rs. 1200 crore was launched during the tenure of former Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh. "Under this, a storage tank has been built in Peterhof, Shimla. In a short time, pressurised drinking water will be supplied from here. A separate arrangement has been made for pure water through this project," he said.
During this, he announced to give an MLA fund of five lakh rupees for the construction of stairs in Boileauganj ward and sports ground. He said that along with this, the roads within the ward will also be upgraded.
He announced giving 31 thousand rupees to the wrestling fair organising committee.
He said that the problems being faced regarding the land adjoining the ground will be resolved soon. Along with this, high-mask lights will be installed on the ground. For this, an estimated cost proposal will be made soon so that the players can play at night.
Boileauganj Welfare Society President Rajiv Thakur honoured the chief guest and other guests.
On this occasion, Shimla Municipal Corporation Commissioner Bhupinder Atri, SJVN Director Personnel Ajay Kumar Sharma, Block Congress Committee Shimla Rural President Gopal Sharma, Boileauganj Councillor Dalip Thapa, and many other dignitaries were present.
