Amaravathi (Andhra Pradesh) [India], October 6 : YSRCP leader Roja slammed the Chandrababu Naidu-led Andhra Pradesh government over its "negligence" and "inefficiency" in solving the case of kidnapping and murder of a minor girl in Punganur, Andhra Pradesh.
A minor girl was reported missing on September 29, when she was allegedly kidnapped and murdered. On October 2, her body was found floating in a water tank.
In a self-made video, Roja said, "Parents of daughters are now terrified to send their children to school. If there is no safety in the Chief Minister's own district, is this not a reflection of government inefficiency?"
She further questioned the Home Minister, Deputy Chief Minister and the chief minister of the state over the handling of the incident.
"The incident of an eight-year-old girl being kidnapped and brutally murdered in Punganur, the constituency of the Chief Minister in Chittoor district, is heartbreaking. The girl, who went missing on the 29th of last month, was in the vicinity for four days without being found due to government negligence. Finding her body just four kilometers from home a week later raises serious questions about what the Home Minister, Deputy Chief Minister, and Chief Minister are doing. Is there any government in this state? Are there police?" Roja asked.
Stepping up the attack on TDP further, she alleged that the police is being used for filing false cases but is not being used to ensure safety of women and children.
"Police are being used to implement the red book constitution and file false cases. There is no one to ensure the safety of women and children. The government sent a special helicopter for the "Madanapalle Files," but does it value files more than the safety of girls?" she asked.
She further highlighted other incidents of crimes against women across the state and asked whether the TDP leaders have any competency to govern.
"If three women were raped in Lokesh's constituency within 24 hours, do these leaders have the competency to govern? In the neighboring constituency of Home Minister, a young woman called for help in Rambilli, but the accused was released from jail and killed her due to negligence. Now that it is known that Jagan Mohan Reddy will visit Punganur on the 9th, the government and Home Minister are in a rush," she said.
The YSRCP leader also demanded an immediate arrest of the accused in the Punganur incident.
"It's time to strengthen laws without revenge motives, ensuring women's police protection and safety. I demand the immediate arrest of the accused in the Punganur incident."
