Pulwama (J&K), Aug 08 (ANI): The 15-day intensive sanitation and cleanliness drive ‘Swachhata Pakhwada’ was taken by the Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) of the Kashmir division at Mong Hama Village in Pulwama. The initiative aimed at promoting cleanliness and creating awareness about the importance of maintaining a clean environment. It also maintains high standards of cleanliness in cities, towns and villages, especially on bus stands, railway stations, markets and public parks. It was started on August 1 and continued for 15 days on the Independence Day. Local villagers, including men and children, came forward as volunteers and contributed their time and effort to clean public spaces, roads, and communal areas. ‘Swachhata Pakhwada’ campaign became a model of community-government collaboration, highlighting how joint efforts can lead to significant improvements in public health and environmental sustainability. This initiative is expected to inspire other villages in the region to undertake similar cleanliness drives, thereby contributing to the broader mission of a cleaner and healthier India.
